Finding GF Puff Pastry
Most supermarkets now have large selections of gluten-free items. Most commonly, you can find GF puff pastry in the frozen section. Thaw the pastry completely before using in this recipe.
If you cannot find GF puff pastry, you can use a GF dry mix meant for pizza, biscuits, or bread. Follow the package directions to create the dough, roll it out, and use it like you would use the frozen puff pastry below. Either method yields delicious results!
Ingredients in Easy Cheesy Hotdog Mummies
- 1 package gluten-free puff pastry, thawed
- 1 package cheddar franks (8 per package)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 pinch dried Italian seasoning
- 1 pinch salt and pepper
- Googly eyes, for serving
How to Make Easy Cheesy Hotdog Mummies
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Thaw your puff pastry.
Cut each sheet into 4 squares. Lay a hotdog in the middle of each square.
Slice lines horizontally on either side of the hotdog, leaving the dough under it intact.
Cross the dough over the hotdog in random lines over the hotdog, keeping some of the dog visible under the mummy wraps.
Next, mix the butter, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Brush each mummy with the flavored butter.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until the dough is lightly brown.
Remove from the oven. Place 2 edible googly eyes on top of each mummy. Serve with ketchup for dipping.
