Easy 6-Ingredient Cheese Danish

Bakery-fresh pastries are so delicious, but rarely are they gluten-free. Not anymore, with these Easy 6-Ingredient Cheese Danish, made with frozen GF puff pastry and a delightfully lemony sweet cheese filling!

  • 8 oz. softened cream cheese
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 yolk
  • 1 box gluten free puff pastry, such as Schar, thawed


  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, lemon zest, vanilla extract, sugar, and egg yolk only. Mix well.
  • Add the other egg to a separate bowl and mix with a small splash of water. This will be your egg wash.
  • Lay out your puff pastry sheets. Slice into 6 equal-sized squares on each sheet, 12 in total.
  • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Lay each pastry square onto the lined sheet. Dollop some of the cream cheese filling in the center of each pastry.
  • Fold each edge into the middle until it is just touching the filling.
  • Use your egg wash and a pastry brush to brush a thin layer of egg wash on top of the pastry.
  • Bake for 15-17 minutes or until the pastry is browned and puffed all over.
