Chocolate Cup of Dirt

Celebrate springtime with Chocolate Cup of Dirt, a delicious homemade chocolate pudding covered in gluten-free Oreo crumbs and gummy worms!

Happy Spring! Many of us can’t wait to get outside once the warmer weather comes and the ground un-freezes. We can start our seedlings and eventually get into full-on gardening mode. There is nothing like celebrating the outdoors after a season being inside.

Celebrate the new season with this adorable Chocolate Cup of Dirt, made to look like actual dirt but is 100% edible! A layer of homemade chocolate pudding lines the cup, followed by some gluten-free Oreo crumbs and gummy worms! Dress these up for Easter and add Peeps, or make these for a kids birthday party and add candles!

Homemade Gluten-Free Pudding

In many homemade pudding recipes, you will find that they contain wheat flour. Instead, you can actually make pudding with gluten-free cornstarch! It is simple and uses an ingredient you likely already have in the pantry!

Also, you want to be sure to use the gluten-free Oreo variety. Oreos are not gluten-free on their own, but the same brand makes a variety completely without gluten. You can also use any chocolate GF cookie that you like.

How to Make Chocolate Cup of Dirt

Begin by adding the sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt in a saucepan.

Turn the heat to medium high and immediately add the milk, whisking fully to combine. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to medium.

Boil for 3-4 minutes until thickened, stirring continuously.

Once thick, remove from the heat. Add the butter and vanilla and stir to combine.

Allow to cool slightly, then transfer the pudding to a glass bowl. Place plastic wrap directly over the surface of the pudding to keep a skin from forming. Place into the fridge to cool completely.

Once fully cooled, spoon the pudding into glass or clear plastic dishes. Top with Oreo crumbs and a few gummy worms.

Serve and enjoy!

Notes: Alternatively, you can make this an Easter treat by adding a few colorful chocolate eggs and some marshmallow bunnies on top.
