What Cranberry Sauce Should I Use?
Deluxe Cranberry Fluff is a very forgiving recipe. This means that you can use almost any loved cranberry sauce in this recipe and it will turn out beautifully. The additional ingredients add a special twist on traditional cranberry sauce while still highlighting the tart sweetness of the fruit.
When we say you can use any cranberry sauce here, we mean it! As part of the developed recipe, a simple, homemade cranberry sauce is included. However, if you want to save time or energy, feel free to use a canned whole-berry cranberry sauce in place of homemade.
Ingredients in Deluxe Cranberry Fluff
For the Cranberry Sauce:
- 12 oz. package of whole cranberries, fresh or frozen
- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 orange, zested
- ¼ cup packed brown sugar
For the Fluff:
- 1 12-oz. container of whipped topping
- 1 11-oz. can of mandarin oranges, drained
- 1 cup green grapes, halved
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- ½ cup glazed pecans (plain toasted pecans work too!)
How to Make Deluxe Cranberry Fluff
Begin by making the cranberry sauce.
In a medium saucepan, add the whole cranberries, orange juice, orange zest, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and reduce to simmer, stirring frequently.
Cook the sauce for 8-10 minutes until thickened and the berries have broken down.
Once thick, remove from the heat and allow the sauce to cool completely.
When cooled, add the sauce to a large bowl. Add the whipped topping, mandarin oranges, grapes, mini marshmallows, and pecans.
Fold everything together to not deflate the whipped topping. The fluff should take on a beautiful pink color.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for at least 2-4 hours, or overnight.
Serve chilled alongside your other Thanksgiving dishes.
